PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Ancuța Maria Măgurean is an engineer and researcher specialized in building energy efficiency, certified as a 1st degree energy auditor for buildings (constructions and building services). She is an Adjunct Professor at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, an expert of the European Commission, and former National Vice-President of the Association of Energy Auditors for Buildings in Romania (AAECR).
Her activity focuses both on applied engineering and on scientific research. As a certified specialist, she is involved in the development of energy audits and nZEB design studies, using a holistic approach and Building Energy Modelling (BEM), to propose and assess technical solutions for the building envelope, HVAC systems, domestic hot water, lighting, and renewable energy systems, with the aim of improving overall building energy performance and reducing the carbon footprint. A key focus of her work is the practical implementation of the nZEB concept across a wide range of building types.
She is currently an Adjunct Professor at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, teaching the courses "Energy Analysis of a Building" and "Energy Management Tools and Programs for Regenerative Cities", within the master's programme "Buildings Services for Regenerative Cities" (taught in English). She has been an invited lecturer in postgraduate programmes for architects and engineers in the field of energy efficiency of buildings at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca and at the "Gheorghe Asachi" University of Iasi, Romania, as well as in and professional training courses for energy auditors organized by AAECR and OAER. Since 2021, she has been involved as an expert of the European Commission in the evaluation of research and innovation projects.
Her scientific research addresses building energy efficiency through advanced thermo-technical simulations, numerical methods, and the application of Artificial Intelligence techniques in civil engineering and thermal engineering. She acts as a reviewer for multiple scientific journals (ISI indexed) and, since 2014, has been a member of international research teams in European-funded projects (financed through the programs Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, IEE), including OLGA, Blueprint for NetZeroCities, SMEmPowerEfficiency, RE-COGNITION, MEnS, and neZEH.
